Hello, and Welcome!

My name is Alim Shevliakov, and I'm the founder and author of Weight Loss Tips.

<---- Me and my granddaughters Polina and Vera, summer 2019.

My passion for healthy living is not based on a passing interest or a popular trend. It has been shaped by personal experience, life circumstances, and decades of observing how daily habits influence long-term health.

Today, at 68 years old (born on September 2, 1957), I enjoy good health, remain active, and many people are surprised when they learn my age. I don't believe there is a single "secret" to healthy aging. Instead, I believe that thousands of small, consistent choices made over many years make the greatest difference.

A Life-Changing Experience

In the early years of my career, I lived and worked in Pripyat, the city built for the employees of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

I worked at a radio manufacturing plant as an adjuster of military radio equipment.

After the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986, I repeatedly returned to Pripyat to help evacuate finished products and technological equipment from the factory.

For my participation in this work, I was awarded a government medal for participating in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear accident.

Naturally, during those missions I was exposed to elevated levels of radiation.

Those events made me think much more seriously about health, nutrition, and the choices we make every day. They reinforced my belief that while we cannot control every circumstance in life, we can influence many aspects of our long-term health through the way we live.

A Lifetime of Healthy Habits

Looking back, I realized that healthy eating had always been part of my life.

My family grew much of our own food on our garden plot. It wasn't everything we ate, but it was a significant part of our diet.

During the summer, we enjoyed a wide variety of vegetables, berries, and fruits grown naturally.

In the winter, our table was always rich in traditional fermented foods, including:

- sauerkraut with apples and sweet peppers,
- fermented tomatoes,
- fermented cucumbers,
- fermented eggplants,
- even fermented watermelons.

Years later, I came to appreciate just how valuable these traditional foods were. Long before fermented foods became popular in modern nutrition, they were simply a normal part of our family's everyday meals.

Simple Habits That Last a Lifetime

Throughout my life, I have followed several simple principles:

- eating plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits;
- enjoying fermented foods regularly;
- avoiding smoking entirely;
- never abusing alcohol;
- staying physically active;
- appreciating simple, home-prepared meals.

None of these habits are extraordinary on their own.

Together, practiced consistently over decades, they have shaped my health and the way I live today.

My Greatest Inspiration

Perhaps my greatest inspiration has always been my mother.

She is 97 years old and continues to live independently.

She takes care of herself, enjoys daily walks, remains mentally active, and still reads books without wearing glasses.

She has lived a healthy lifestyle throughout her entire life and continues to be a wonderful example that healthy habits truly matter.

Her brothers also lived well into their nineties.

Looking at my own family history, I cannot help noticing one common pattern: they all grew much of their own food, ate large amounts of fresh vegetables and traditional fermented foods, and lived active lives.

That observation has influenced many of my views on nutrition and healthy aging.

Why I Created Weight Loss Tips

Over the years, I have studied nutrition, healthy eating, and lifestyle practices not because I was searching for a miracle solution, but because I wanted to understand what genuinely supports long-term health.

That desire eventually led to the creation of Weight Loss Tips.

My goal is to provide practical, balanced, and evidence-informed information that helps people build healthier habits without extreme diets, unrealistic promises, or unnecessary complexity.
